On November 1, 1948 James F. Hopkins, author of A History of Hemp In Kentucky, addressed a meeting at the Filson Club in Louisville, Kentucky. His subject was "The Production of Hemp in Kentucky for Naval Use." Two months later on Jan 31, 1949, The Filson Club Quarterly published an article written by Hopkins, again titled, "Production of Hemp in Kentucky for Naval Use."
